The most efficient way
The courses I take are in very small groups, which is very different from the lectures in Germany. I love the opportunity to learn new things in small groups and ask questions to understand the course in a timely manner.
Why MSU?
I really like the working environment, the atmosphere. Education at Moscow State University is deeper, more structured and professional than in many other countries of the world. I really liked the working environment, the atmosphere and the very building of the faculty and its audience. I extremely enjoyed that the departments of the faculty have their own laboratories.
How internship fits your curriculum
The internship definitely exceeded my expectations, especially with how much support I received during and after. The training and mentorship was to the highest quality, even better than what I am normally used to. As my final year dissertation was based on what I did on the internship, the help and feedback I received from the mentors was outstanding. They were the main reason for me achieving the best grade. Even months after I finished the internship, my mentor helped me with my applications to further degrees, which made a significant impact.
The atmosphere
Working with different people from around the world was also great as it helps create international bonds and relationships. Everyone was really nice as well and helped me feel very welcome. Working in such a historic faculty was also a great experience, and just being in such an environment was an experience in itself.
The people I believe were one of the best parts of the whole experience. The overall environment I worked in was great, I did not feel pressured and I always had support for when I did not understand something. If I made a mistake there was always help.
About aims and tasks
The content of which the internship was based on was very applicable to the real world, which was important for me as you could see the meaning behind every individual step of what you are working towards. The laboratory, although quite old, provided a good research environment and it had everything needed to produce quality work.
Personal notes
To be completely honest, I think anyone who has the opportunity to pursue this internship should 100% do it. If I was to go back and tell my past self who was hesitant to go, I would say that it is an absolute no brainer. From everything you learn, to the great people you meet, it is an experience which you cannot miss. It is also great for future study or employment opportunities. The mentors and people involved, will help you with future applications and even future work that you may need help with due to the great relationships you make. I could not recommend it highly enough as it was one of the best experiences I have had in terms of practical and theoretical skill development, but also personal development as a whole.
